The four regions annexed by Russia make up 15 percent of Ukraine. The upper house of the Russian Parliament approved the annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson in Ukraine.
According to the news quoted by Reuters, the Russian Federation Council unanimously approved the accession of four regions in Ukraine to Russia. The Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, also approved the annexation of four regions yesterday.
Parliament’s approval of the annexation will now go to Russian President Vladimir Putin for final signature. The four regions annexed by Russia make up 15 percent of Ukraine. While the governments of Kyiv and the West do not recognize the annexation decision, they state that Russia violates international law.
