The first monkeypox virus deaths outside of the African continent occurred in Brazil and Spain. According to the news in the BBC, a 41-year-old man in Brazil became the first recorded case of monkeypox death outside of Africa. After Brazil, the first death in Europe occurred in Spain.
It is known that most of the cases of monkeypox virus, which was declared a global emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO), are mild to moderate, and the risk to the general population is low. It was stated that the patient who died in Brazil had lymphoma and had a weak immune system.
