As people are more confined to their homes due to the pandemic, their interaction with the mobile world has increased as well. While record revenues are achieved in application expenditures, game revenues do not fall short of this. However, this year, a little more weight has been given to implementation expenditures.
Record spending on mobile games
According to Sensor Tower data, 89.6 billion dollars will be spent on mobile games in 2021, including estimated December values. This figure indicates an increase of 12.6%. Its rate among all applications decreased from 74 percent to 67.4 percent.
The App Store has the largest share in revenues, generating around $52 billion. Google Play, on the other hand, increased even more, generating $37.3 billion in revenue. Around 70 or 80 percent of that goes to developers.
